Marion County Film Commission

0 671-1717

The sole purpose of the organization is to promote motion pictures, television commercials, production and still photography in the North Central Florida region. The secondary purpose is to make certain that film crews are taken care of should they choose to shoot in Marion County. Additionally, it is to protect the environment and citizens of the region and to educate them on the process of production.

Our mission is to generate a positive financial impact on the business tourism industry and the general economic development of Marion County through the growth of film, television projects and still photography by attracting on-location production and providing services to both visiting and indigenous production.

Known as the Ocala Film Commission, we maintain a data base and location library of photographs of the entire county and promote locations, residences, attractions and the general countryside for use in production. The film commission facilitates a production once it is committed to filming in the region, doing whatever necessary to make the production run smoothly.

The Ocala Film Commission assists with catering, lodging, crew, production assistance and sending out announcements for headshots and resumes to crew up for films and commercials. Blast emails send out announcements for the specific needs of any production (i.e. casting, locations or crew).

The Ocala Film Commission serves as a resource for and a liaison between local City and County communities (Anthony, Bellview, Candler, Citra, Dunnellon, East Lake Weir, Ft. McCoy, Lowell, McIntosh, Ocala, Ocala National Forest, Ocklawaha, Orange Springs, , Reddick, Romeo, Salt Springs, Silver Springs, Silver Springs Shores, Sparr, Summerfield and Weirsdale). When applicable, community leaders must be informed about filming in their jurisdiction and appropriate approvals obtained.

Be certain that the Ocala Film Commission wants quality production and will work to maintain that only qualified productions utilize our resources. Insurance certificates must be filed with the Ocala Film Commissioner on all productions twenty-four (24) hours prior to filming – no exceptions.
